LEWISTON — Anyone with expired, unused or unwanted medications made get rid of them safely at the free medication disposal event for Androscoggin County, to be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Lewiston High School.
It will be a drive-through operation and there will be police officers on-site to supervise the collection of the medications. When possible, bring medications in original packing to aid with drug identification.
Items that may be dropped off include expired or unwanted prescriptions, vitamins, veterinary medications, homeopathic treatments and over the counter medicines.
Items that will not be accepted include mercury thermometers, needles, syringes or electronic equipment
The event is being coordinated by the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative, Lewiston Police Department, Auburn Police Department, Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, Healthy Androscoggin, Lewiston and Auburn Public Schools, St. Mary’s Medical Center Pharmacy, the Central Maine Medical Center’s Pharmacy and School of Nursing, SeniorsPlus, the Lewiston Housing Authority and the Auburn Housing Authority.
