OTISFIELD — The Spurrs Corner Church will hold a Town Clean-up Day from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. In lieu of the regular morning worship services of the church, members will go out in teams and pick up roadside litter.

The event is not intended as a household bulky waste removal service.

The Rev. Rick Mowery said that the church has a deep love of the community and, in looking for unique ways to experience worship, decided that “cleaning God’s creation by picking up litter would be a wonderful way to show our love to both God and the community.”

Mowery said that any money received from returnable bottles recovered that day will be donated to the Otisfield Community School.

All ages will participate in the event with those with mobility issues driving support vehicles. The Otisfield Fire Department will provide traffic control and safety equipment.

Following the clean-up, a lunch will be served at the church featuring Russ’ barbecue chicken, scalloped potatoes, squash, peas, homemade rolls, pumpkin pie and apple crisp.

The church is located at 1005 State Route 121. For more information, call the church at 627-4886 or Polly at 539-4502.
