LEWISTON — Ruth N. Ready, 95, a lifelong resident of River Road, Livermore, died peacefully early Monday, Nov. 1, at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Livermore, the daughter of Elwin and Jessie (Day) Noble. Ruth was a 1932 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and graduated from Bliss Business College in Lewiston in 1937.
On June 27, 1951, she married her husband of 34 years, Joseph Guy Ready. He passed away Nov. 18, 1985.
Ruth worked for New England Telephone Co. for 27 years in Livermore Falls and Farmington. After retiring from the telephone company, she worked as a secretary for Guy Knight Lumber Co., the Ski Rack and served as a librarian at the Treat Memorial Library, all located in Livermore Falls.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; believing in family values. She worked side-by-side with her brother on their farm on River Road, and she continued her life there on the farm with her son Doug.
She was a member of the Pioneer Club; Norland Grange, Charity Rebekah Lodge and served as a 4-H Club leader. Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.
She is survived by her son, W. Doug Ready of Livermore; two grandchildren, Jessica Jeffreys and her husband, Jason, of Memphis, Tenn., and Shawn Ready and his companion, Amanda Deering, of Livermore Falls; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Jeffreys and Laeton S. Ready.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Ready; and her brother, Donald Noble.
