FARMINGTON — Republican Mary Frank of Farmington was leading the Franklin County treasurer’s race over Democrat Pam Prodan of Wilton by an unofficial vote of 2,868 to 2,044 late Tuesday.

Both women took their hometowns.

Farmington voters favored Frank, a speech language pathologist, by an unofficial 1,989 to 1,121 vote.

Wilton residents favored, Prodan, an attorney, by an unofficial 1,054 to 748 tally.

The winner will succeed longtime Treasurer Karen Robinson, a Republican from Wilton. Robinson did not seek re-election. She has served 12 years.

The winner will take office Jan. 1, 2011.

The candidates each have skills they believe will benefit the county and help them interact with people who work within and outside the county.

Frank believes her strong interpersonal skills, based on experience with a wide range of work and volunteer connections will benefit the county.

Prodan believes her background provides her with a solid basis to perform well and interact well with all people who she will encounter in the job of county treasurer.
