AUBURN — Joseph G. Voisine, 87, of Blake Street Towers, formerly of Sabattus Street died Monday, Nov. 1, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with his family at his side.

He was born in Van Buren, Dec. 8, 1922, a son of the late Christopher and Rose (Viel) Voisine. He was educated in Maine and New Hampshire schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and The Korean Conflict.

Joe married the former Marielle Pelletier, Sept. 14, 1953, she predeceased him on July 8, 1992. He worked construction for most of his younger years and then owned and operated Nel’s Variety. He continued working into his 70s clearing trailer lots in Sabattus. He was a member of Holy Family Church and VFW Post 1603.

Joe enjoyed watching the Red Sox and attending his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s events.

He leaves three daughters, Dorothy McAtee of Lewiston, Marieanne Bronson of Florida, and Brenda Guimond and her husband, Gerry, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Robert McAtee III of Lincoln, Jamison McAtee and his wife, Sarah, of West Virginia, Matthew McAtee and his wife, Reney, of Tennessee, Tessa Bailer and her husband, Eric, of Florida, John Bronson of Georgia, Derek Guimond and his wife, Erin, of Massachusetts, and Chad Guimond of Lewiston; eight great-grandchildren, Darian, Kayla, Reese, Aiden and Alexis McAtee, Rylee Guimond and Colin and Corey Bailer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother; and three sisters.

The family would like to send a very special thank-you to the entire staff at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and the Hospice House for the excellent care given to Joe. Also they would like to thank Tanya Warren for all the help she gave to Joe.
