Miss Hetty Smith of Bangor, who has had wide experience in both hospital and private nursing, has come to Auburn to work with Mrs. Lilla J. Jordan, at Hillcrest Hospital, which was opened Thursday. It may be interesting to mothers to know that if they are called out of town, are ill, or for any reason want their small children cared for for a day, a week, or any length of time, they may be sent to Hillcrest.

Before taking action to have the city portion of the Gracelawn Road landfill closed, Auburn city councilors hope to determine Monday afternoon if there are asbestos deposits on the city’s section of the site.
Councilors voted during a special meeting to conduct an on-site inspection of the landfill. Their concerns arose after two men told the council the operator of the adjacent asbestos landfill had failed to live up to regulations stipulated by the State Department of Environmental Protection.
