FARMINGTON — Franklin County residents elected Republican Mary Frank of Farmington over Democrat Pam Prodan of Wilton to serve as Franklin County treasurer on Tuesday. The vote was 7,672 to 5,428.
Frank, a speech language pathologist, won in 20 towns, including her hometown, while Prodan, an attorney, took the towns of Jay and Wilton.
Frank will take over the treasurer’s position for four years beginning on Jan. 1. Longtime Treasurer Karen Robinson, a Republican of Wilton, did not seek re-election.
“It was a good race,” Frank said. “We handled things differently. We’re very different people. We did things different in the race and it was hard to tell how it would turn out ahead of time. I am pleased. I had a lot of very good help and a lot of advice and I learned a lot. It has been a good civics lesson and I met a lot of great people.”
Prodan was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
