FARMINGTON — Cecelia (Byrnes) Brown of Oquossoc, died Nov. 2, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct 28. She was 75 years old.

She was born June 23, 1935, to parents John and Jennie Byrnes in Buffalo, N.Y. She was one of six children, John Byrnes and Dorothy Schiava deceased, and is survived by Jeannette Manieri of Matawan N.J., Patricia Paparelli of Belmont, N.C., and Dianne Leonardo of New Jersey.

She married George R. Brown of Jersey City, N.J., Aug 22, 1953, and had several odd jobs including apple packer and button maker. She also ran a small manufacturing home business. She had two sons while living in Paramus, then Emerson, N.J. She was an accomplished sewer and often made her own clothes. After vacationing for years in the Rangeley Lakes region, the family moved to Maine in 1974, as owners/managers of the Cupsuptic Campground thru 1980.

In the late 1980s, Cecelia fulfilled her love of cooking by opening Ceil’s Bakery by Haines Landing in Oquossoc. She enjoyed her hobby of doll collecting. Recently she worked as a museum guide at the Wilhelm Reich Museum.

Her husband George died in 1993.

She is survived by her two sons, Richard of Oquossoc and Robert and his wife, Karen, of Carmel.
