RUMFORD — The Rumford United Methodist Church women’s group has been hard at work preparing for their annual Homemade For The Holidays Fair to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the church, 455 Linnell St.
Al Hanington and Pastor Carol Stevens will be at the hospitality table, where hot coffee, tea and baked breakfast items will be offered. Lunch tickets will also be available for purchase.
There will be many themed gift baskets, including popcorn lovers, gardening, children’s activity, soup lovers, green tea drinkers, bath baskets and more.
The ladies have a long quilting tradition and at the silent auction table people may bid on gifts and home decor items such as table runners, wall hangings and lap quilts. Jane Shuck will be at the table to explain how it all works.
The bake table, hosted by Naomi Robertson and Peggy Welch, will have cookies, brownie bites, fudge, small loaves of breads, jams, jellies, pickles and more. The dried meals in canning jars will also be offered. They consist of herbs and spices and a variety of dried ingredients in a canning jar with cooking directions attached.
The finished craft tables will have balsam bags, pet gifts, crochet top kitchen towels, potholders and dishtowels. There will also be cloth books for children, fleece mittens and hats and holiday aprons.
The Christmas table will offer handmade decorations, including crocheted angels.
Books and puzzles will be located upstairs in the church, along with DVDs, CDs, music, books on tape and cooking magazines. Mary Pulsifer and Bev Whittemore will be there to assist shoppers.
For lunch, Judy Kuhn, Carolyn Kennard and their crew will cook up beef stew, corn bread, fruit and brownie sundaes, served by Dot Wing and her staff. The cost is $5.
