LEWISTON — Keith C. Roberts, MCPO USN Retired, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, after a brief illness.
He was born May 29, 1938, in New London, Wis., son of Frank Roberts and Hazel (Bessett) Roberts.
He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and traveled the world. His 30-year Naval career was highlighted by his 1970 deployment in Vietnam aboard the USS America, for which he received the Naval Achievement Award. He then served with the Naval survival school “SERE” at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Afterward he served VP-11, where he received his second Naval Achievement Award. He retired from service in the Navy in 1988. After his retirement, he worked at the Sun Journal and Gracelawn Memorial Park, and Quality Transportation-TCA.
Keith was an active member of Holy Family Church, being a eucharistic minister and having sat on the parish council. He was a member of the Holy Family Knights of Columbus council 10019, where he served as Grand Knight. He also served as Faithful Navigator of the Peter Conroy 4th degree Assembly.
Keith was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was very involved with his family, and loved winning at cards with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris (Martel) Roberts of Lewiston; his son, Mark Roberts of Kannapolis, N.C,; daughter, Kathy (Roberts) Ouellette, her husband, John, and their sons, Nathan and Jason, and Kevin Roberts of Lewiston, his wife, Anissa, and their children, Scott, Lestat and Peter; one brother, Robert Roberts and his wife, Barbara, of Winnaconnee, Wis.; four sisters, Beverly and her husband, Robert Willard, of Waupaca, Wis., Gloria Knorr of Appleton, Wis., Judy and her husband, Jay Krake, of New London, Wis., and Mary and her husband, Charles Brennan, of Hollywood, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his much beloved stepfather, Clyde Barrington.
