AUBURN — Two more members of the Androscoggin County Charter Commission have been elected.
Richard Gross of Turner and Scott Lansley of Sabattus won the three-way, write-in contest to represent the county’s first district in the group.
They’ll join Robert Mennealy and Charles “Chip” Morrison, both of Auburn, and Helen Poulin and Richard Grandmaison, both from Lewiston.
In the District 1 race, Gross garnered 160 votes. Lansley received 79 votes, and the third candidate, Deborah Moran of Greene earned 66 votes.
The Androscoggin County Commission will appoint three more members: a commissioner, a municipal officer and a member of the Maine Legislature.
The nine members will create a proposed charter, creating a new set of rules for county government. Before taking effect, any proposal must be approved by the county’s voters.
