FARMINGTON — Members of the Colonial Daughters Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution had their October meeting at the Pierce House. Residents of the home, along with several others from the community, attended the meeting.

Before the business meeting, guests were served coffee, tea and a variety of pastries. A tribute to Martha Washington’s kitchen in Mount Vernon inspired the ingredients for the pastries. Loraine Norton presented a musical program including songs and their histories from each of the country’s wars, with all members and guests joining in, especially on the chorus.

Regent Marcia White opened the business meeting, with Nelda Doak, a member of the Chapter and a resident of Pierce House leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. The President General’s Report was read by Mary Wheeler, the National Defense News by Joanne Page and the Indian Minutes by Connie Hiltz. The group discussed both new and old business.

Members in attendance were: Marcia White, Nelda Doak, Patricia Durham, Melanie Farmer, Joy Gilbank, Connie Hiltz, Deborah Judkins, Anne Kendall, Loraine Norton, Julia Nouvertne, Joan Patterson, Wilma Rector, Barbara Titcomb, Elaine Wells, Mary Wheeler, Lorraine Wing and Joanne Page.

The Chapter’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton. The public is invited to attend.
