LEWISTON — Normand A. Carrier, 70, of West Ridge Road, Sabattus passed away on Nov. 1, at d’Youville Pavilion, with his family by his side following a two and a half year courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1940, the son of Aime and Fluerette Jutras Carrier. He went to local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1958. He then joined the Navy SeaBees and served from 1958 to 1963. He began his adult career as manager of Holiday Lanes for 12 years, and retired from Philips Elmet after 26 years.
He married the former Pamela Webber on May 28, 1993, and together they bought a home in Claremont, Fla., where they made many, many good friends. He was given the nickname “Sally” by his Over the Hill Gang bike group, and everyone knew him only as Sally, even the children and grandchildren of his Florida friends.
Norm will truly be missed for his sense of humor, and he could tell one joke after another for hours and hours. He enjoyed his motorcycle, bowling, and long Sunday rides with his wife. Besides wis wife of Sabattus, he is survived by two daughters, Michele O’Donnell of Sabattus and Christine Mockler and partner, Skeet Wilson, of Auburn; two sisters, Jeannine O’Malley and husband, John, of Lewiston and Jackie St. Jean and husband, Guy, of Lewiston; two stepchildren, Shawn Landry and wife, Dee Dee, of Auburn and Shannon Allen and husband, George, of Lisbon Falls; mother-in-law, Florence Webber of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Josh Mockler of San Diego, Calif., Zachary Wilson of Auburn, Nichole Bussiere of Dover, N.H., Justin and Paige Landry of Auburn and Ricky and Emily Allen of Lisbon Falls.
The family thanks the staff of 4 West at d’Youville Pavilion, and also a very big thank-you to Dr. Roger Austin and his wonderful staff at the Hospice House.
