DERRY, N.H. — Robert S. Campbell, 71, of Eustis, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at his son’s home in Derry, N.H., while recovering from heart surgery.

Robert was born in Morristown, N.J., and raised in Yarmouth, Maine.

He was one of two children born to the late Isabelle and Robert Campbell and was the beloved husband of the late Gail Campbell for 40 years. Robert will forever be remembered by his sons, Alfred and Robert; and nephew, Duncan; along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

Robert served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After the war he worked in the Portland area in telecommunications and had his own business. His early passion for boats had him get his boating captain’s license, hence his nickname “The Cap.” Through the years Robert loved outdoor activities in Maine in which he had received his Maine Guides License and did lots of work for game conservation. For the past 10 years, his love for snowmobiling had him as the president of the local snowmobile club as well as volunteering as part of the Maine Snowmobile Association. Robert loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobiling, laughing, being with his family, and having fun with friends.

Robert touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
