PORTLAND — The Portland Water District  announces the promotion of James Wallace of Poland to director of water services.

Wallace has been employed with the Portland Water District for 22 years and has spent the past eight years as water plant and systems manager.

Before joining the district, he worked as maintenance manager at the Humpty Dumpty Potato Chip Co. in Scarborough.

He has a degree in electro-mechanical technology from Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute and retains the highest level of water industry certification, grade 4, water distribution and treatment licenses. He also holds a grade 2 wastewater collection certificate.
