STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Anthony Cimato, 72 , of Staten Island, N.Y., died in his sleep Nov. 5.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Feb. 19, 1938, the son of Angela (Leone) and Frank Cimato, Anthony was educated in the New York Public School System, until entering the United States military. He served in the Third Naval District and was a recipient of a medal of good conduct.

Following his military service, he settled in Lewiston, working for several years on the Lewiston Police Force. He was present and on duty during the famous fight between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston.

He owned Mario’s Restaurant in Lisbon and managed several other restaurants, before returning to New York  in 1986. He worked as the director of purchasing for the N.Y. Hotel Trades Council employee benefit fund, until his retirement. Anthony was a member of the Sons of Italy, was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, loved fishing, spending time in Maine with his family and best friend and beloved dog, Oki.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Nicholas Cimato of Manhattan, N.Y., Anthony Cimato of Lisbon, Patrick Cimato of Brooklyn, N.Y., and daughter, Katherine Sirois and her husbad, Lyndon, of Minot; his grandchildren, Alexander and Stephanie Sirois of Minot; long-time companion, Lil Andujar, her daughter, Melinda and grandson, Jayden Adorno; sisters, Tina Jensen of Long Island, N.Y.,  and Francis Cimato of Staten Island, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Marian Cimato of New Jersey; in addition to several nieces, Vanessa Cimato, Debbie Jensen, Jessica Cimato, and Melissa Cimato; and a nephew, Ken Jensen.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Frank Cimato.
