Oak Hill High School’s Theater in the Woods will present “The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter” by Carolyn Lane, on Nov. 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.
It is a fun-filled performance about the efforts of one bumbling cast and crew to produce a serious melodrama. From the premature opening of the curtain to the completely confused curtain call, everything that could go wrong does. The pianist plays the wrong music, there’s an argument in the audience during the show, wrong sound cues, wigs come off, wrong speeches are given, and wrong exits.
Yet, through it all, the players valiantly try to surmount the monumental confusion and create an atmosphere of madcap zeal.
Tickets, to be sold at the door, are $7 for general admission and $5 for students. For more information, contact Lucy Rioux at [email protected] or 582-5717.
The play is directed by Lucy Rioux and technical direction provided by Helen Sherman. Castmembers are Elijah Washburn, Amanda Bloss, Chris Jones, Jack Champagne, Gwenyth Fraser, Patrick Caskin, September Brooks, Emily Baker, Emily McLean, Isaac Fair, Michael Del Santo, Kenyon Fraser, Patrick Austin, Joe Turcotte, Julianna Lauzon, and Travis Burnham. The technical crew includes Arielle Buteau, Declan Doyle, Jacob Kupfer, Marshall Larsen, and Zach Fisher. Pictured are Emily Baker as scrubwoman and Kenyon Fraser as pianist.
