CHESTERVILLE — The Planning Board and selectmen will meet with representatives from U.S. Cellular at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the town office to discuss the company’s proposed construction of a cell-phone tower on Chesterville Hill.

It’s an informational meeting because no application for a building permit has been turned in yet, although it appears U.S. Cellular will file for one, Code Enforcement Officer Brenda Medcoff said Friday. The representatives were willing to come discuss their plans, she added.

With no ordinances in Chesterville to cover cell or wind towers, the company would only need a building permit, which doesn’t require public hearings or notification to abutting property owners.

This is not a public hearing but residents may attend the meeting and usually the Planning Board allows people to speak although it isn’t required, she said.

There are no other towers in Chesterville.
