AUBURN — The Good Shepherd Food Bank is in need of volunteers on a daily basis at its Auburn Distribution Center to help sort and inspect thousands of pounds of food that will be distributed across Maine.
The food bank is at the center of a statewide network of more than 600 hunger relief organizations, distributing over 12 million pounds of food in 2009. Due to the efforts of volunteers, the food bank is able to salvage millions of pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste
Volunteers are free to come to the food bank at any of the following times:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (closed the Friday before the second Saturday of the month); or Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (only open the second Saturday of the month).
The Good Shepherd Food Bank is located at 3121 Hotel Road. Call 782-3554 or e-mail [email protected] to learn more.
