AUBURN — The Central Maine Human Resources Association is hosting its monthly meeting for human resources professionals at the Hilton Garden Inn on Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to about 9:45 a.m.

Rebecca Webber, a partner at the law firm of Linnell, Choate & Webber in Auburn, will present a program on 10 tips to avoiding the Maine Human Rights Commission, the courts, and other claims. A person doesn’t have to be designated “human resources” to attend.

This program will help identify a number of areas that seem to crop up the most and will help human resource staff and businesspeople reduce even further the risk of claims. The discussion will range from harassment training to new items to add to personnel policies to religious accommodation to personnel files and more.

If there are particular issues attendees would like to see addressed (issues as opposed to requests for legal advice on a particular matter), please send those in advance to [email protected].

The cost is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers and includes the program and breakfast, which is being sponsored by WorkMed. Attendees should sign up in advance. To register for this meeting, please go to http://cmhra.shrm.org/forms/Nov2010_meeting_registration.htm. Those interested in attending may also contact the CMHRA secretary, Lisa Ballard, at: [email protected].
