I thank the Sun Journal editorial board for the editorial Nov. 9 regarding state Sen. John Nutting.
I am a 24-year-old living in his district, and it really bothered me to read the article on election results last week along with his advertisement on Nov. 7.
Garrett Mason and I share the same frustrations. I have seen many people my age cross the state border to leave for better opportunities. It is frustrating to see so many college graduates who can’t begin their careers in this state because of the lack of job opportunities.
I am thankful that I found an exceptional job at an exceptional business, but not everyone has been so fortunate. Many of my friends still live with their parents or rent a house with three or four friends, just to make ends meet.
It’s about time that someone takes notice of the young men and women of our community, after all, we will be leading entrepreneurs in Lewiston-Auburn sooner than people give us credit for.
Mason will inject Augusta with a youthful voice, and he will be speaking for many of us.
Nutting’s comments were outrageous, and now I have yet another reason to be thankful that I, along with 56 percent of my district, voted for Mason.
Donald Hinkley, Turner
