SEBAGO — Isabel P. Niles, 90, of North Sebago, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov., 9, at her home.
The daughter of Walter R. and Isabel (Waters) Paine, Belle was born in North Providence, R.I., Jan. 29, 1920, and raised in Springfield, Mass., with summers spent in North Sebago.
On June 18, 1940, she and the Rev. Albert C. Niles married in Springfield. Mr. Niles passed away November 2001.
After graduating from Classical High School in Springfield, Isabel attended St. Lawrence University for two years. After her marriage, she coordinated and taught in the Sunday schools at the Universalist churches in South Weymouth, Mass., Auburn and Bangor, and Brockton, Mass., where her husband served as minister.
With their five children in school, she resumed her education at SLU when the family moved to Canton, N.Y., and graduated in 1962. She taught high school English in Russell and Dolgeville, N.Y., Bridgewater, Mass., and Auburn.
Mrs. Niles is survived by her sons, David, Jonathan and Walter, with whom she resided; daughters, Ann and Martha; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
