I have been an independent voter for 36 years. I would like to know why Eliot Cutler is still making the headlines.
First, he blamed his loss on the absentee vote. When he realized that the state was not going to terminate absentee voting, he now wants a run-off voting system.
Would he be this interested in changing the way of voting if he were the governor who had just won with 38 percent of the vote? I think not.
Maybe the election should be changed to a high school basketball tournament format and go for double elimination; people just keep voting every week until someone loses twice.
Does Cutler want the system changed just so he can win next time?
He lost. He can come back and try again in four years. If he is as popular as he says he is, he should win with 70 percent of the vote.
The system works. Let’s move on, please.
