RUMFORD — Robert H. Reid Jr., “Big Daddy,” 82, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Rumford Community Home. He was a resident of Richardson Avenue in Rumford.

He was born in Berlin, N.H., March 25, 1928, a son of the late Robert and Harriet (Merrill) Reid Sr. He was a graduate of Berlin, New Hampshire High School, where he lettered in four sports. He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class during the Korean War. He worked for Boise Cascade as a millwright until his retirement.

Bob was a very active member of the Chisolm Ski Club. He was a member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW, Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking. He also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Red Sox fan.

He was married in Rumford, Oct. 23, 1953, to Aldona Stalmon, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include two daughters, Kathy Kellogg and her husband, Robert Jr., of Rumford and Pamela Porter and her husband, William, of Rumford; one son, Robert Reid III and his wife, Lisa, of Mexico; grandchildren, Shane Reid, Megan Porter, Matthew Kellogg and his wife, Michaela, and Jennifer Kellogg.
