VASSALBORO — State police are investigating the discovery of a “badly decomposed” body found in the woods Monday morning in Vassalboro.

The body was found by two deer hunters at about 7:30 a.m. off Route 32, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. The gender of the body was not able to be determined at the scene. The body is at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy and identification.

There is no “immediate indication of foul play,” according to the press release.
