VFW meeting

LEWISTON — The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.

Agenda will include the presentation of awards to the top three Lewiston High School students for the Voice of Democracy essay and the top three students from Lewiston Middle School who participated in the Patriot Pen essay. Awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m. followed by a light lunch.

Eligible veterans interested in joining the VFW should contact Armand Bussiere at 688-2291.

Baha’i service

AUBURN — The local Baha’i community will honor those who lost their lives during the attack on Our Lady of Salvation Syriac Catholic Cathedral of Baghdad, Iraq, on Oct. 31. More than 100 were held people hostage and when the crisis ended, there were 58 people dead.

The devotion will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at 9 Amberley Way. All are welcome to bring prayers to the event. For more information and directions, call 782-5927.

Turkey raffle

SABATTUS — The Sabattus American Legion Post 135 will hold a turkey raffle beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the post home on Island Road. The public is invited.

Thanksgiving meal

LEWISTON — Trinity Jubilee Center, in partnership with The Salvation Army, will provide a free community meal at noon Thursday, Nov. 25, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. All who are in need are welcome.

At this time no additional volunteers are needed on Thanksgiving Day, but any monetary and/or food donations can be make directly to either organization. For more information, call Lt. Jason Brake at The Salvation Army at 783-0801 or Kim Wettlaufer at Trinity Jubilee Center at 782-5700.
