LEEDS — Daniel J. Thibodeau, 42, of Leeds, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 6, 1967, a son of Richard Thibodeau Sr. and Gwendolyn (Trider) Thibodeau. He grew up in Turner, where he worked alongside his father at Thibodeau Electric and attended Leavitt Area High School, where he graduated in 1986. He went on to study at SMVTI, which led him to become a master electrician. Before graduating in 1988, he met his future wife Tanis (Clark) Thibodeau. They were married in July of 1988. Three years later, they welcomed their daughter, Jaimee, into the world.

After working as an electrician with his dad and eldest brother, Richard Jr., he worked as an assistant manager at Home Depot and Staples. He later opened his own business, DJT Electric, which allowed him to work with his younger brother, Patrick, who also runs PT Electric. He was an avid golfer who constantly strived to beat his best friend and worst enemy, the golf course. It was because of this love for golf that he toyed with the idea of becoming a golf pro. For a time, he also worked at Springbrook Golf Course in Leeds. Dan liked to playfully tease his daughter and niece, Jessica Thibodeau, giving them the nicknames of Butthead and Uncle Jessie, respectively. At birthday parties, he would like to revisit his childhood hobby of building model rockets and shooting them off with his brothers and cousin, Doug Smith. He was a fan of “the good things life,” roller coasters, chocolate and movies.

He is survived by his wife, Tanis, and their daughter, Jaimee, of Leeds; his father, Richard Sr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Turner; his Aunt Jacqueline Smith of Florida; his brothers, Richard Jr. and wife, Helen, of Greene, Mark and wife, Lori, of Leeds, Patrick and wife, Cathy, of Leeds; and sister, Amy and companion Mark Martin of Turner; cousins; Douglas and wife, Shelly, and her children Eddie and Maureen and Rebecca Toole and husband, Tim, and their son, Ryan; nieces Jessica and Rhys Thibodeau; stepnieces Alivia, Cassidy and Nicole Bradley; great niece, Brooklyn Nadeau; and his 3 dogs Shailey, Buddy and Sebastian.

He was predeceased by his mother Gwendolyn; grandmothers Jeannette “Memere” Thibodeau and Madeline “Nana” Simard; and grandfathers Paul “Pepere” Thibodeau and Tom “Grandpa” Simard.
