As the sole surviving son of Pfc. Henry E. St. Pierre, who was killed in action on Nov. 11, 1944, in northern France, and whose remains are buried in the Lorraine Military Cemetery in St. Avold, France, I want to express my gratitude to the hundreds of patriotic-minded area citizens who attended the seventh annual Veterans Day Community Prayer Service, held recently at Holy Family Church.
A special thanks to the World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who were in attendance at this moving service.
Thank you for staying the course.
Thank you also to the active members of our armed services, the 15 members of the Junior ROTC Air Force Cadets from Lewiston High School and to the area clergy for participating in the ceremony.
The Rev. Lissa Bradford certainly challenged all to “stay the course.”
Thank you to all participants and to the organizing committee.
Henry E. St. Pierre, Lewiston
