FARMINGTON — The 34th annual celebration of Chester Greenwood Day is just around the corner.

Planned for Saturday, Dec. 4, this year, the annual events include a parade, flag raising, chili contest, gingerbread house contest, Farmington Rotary’s Festival of Trees, the Polar Bear Club’s dip in Clearwater Lake and more.

The theme for the parade, which begins at 11 a.m., is A Child’s World of Wonder. Cash prizes and ribbons will be awarded in four categories: theme, originality, appearance and youth group.

The parade will begin lining up at the Perkins Lot on Quebec Street at 10 a.m. Judging of floats will begin at 10:30 a.m. As always, earmuffs must be incorporated into each float and entry in the parade.

Preregistration is required but participation in the parade is free. Registration forms are available on the Franklin County Chamber website at www.franklincountymaine.org.

Registration forms for the chili and gingerbread house are also on the website.
