The Bates College Museum of Art in Lewiston is showing an exhibit focusing on Wally Reinhardt’s longtime devotion to interpreting Ovid’s “Metamorphoses.” Since the 1980s, Reinhardt has vividly and playfully depicted many of the favorite characters of classical mythology. His gouche paintings, like this on depicting Apollo, his steeds and the Sun Chariot, have been included in many important exhibitions. The “Metamorphosos: A Collaboration with Ovid by Wally Reinhardt” exhibit will be up through Dec. 18.
