PORTLAND — Douglas L. Starbird, 52, of Oxford, was killed in a motorcycle accident on Nov. 16.
He was born April 23, 1958, in Birkenfeld, Germany, where his parents were in the Air Force. He spent his youth in Groveland, Mass., where he was involved in sports and had many friends. He attended Pentucket Reg. Whittier voch. tech. schools.
He spent 20 years in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico shrimping. As a shrimp boat captain, he survived the “perfect storm” before returning to New England. He moved to Oxford in 2005 and worked for Logan Painting.
He was a generous soul, always ready to help. He had a quick wit and outgoing personality and will be missed by many people across the country.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Jerrianne Baldwin; his mother, Ruth Starbird; brother, Donald and wife, Stephanie; son, Greg, wife, Ann; and daughter, Stacy and companion, Ray; two grandchildren; a nephew, aunts and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Harry Wm. Starbird.
