RUMFORD –  Madeline M. Brown, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at the Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Rumford.

Born in Rumford on April 6, 1930, she was a daughter of James and Bambina (Ciccarelli) Lavorgna. She was a graduate of Stephens High School with the Class of 1948. She worked for Oxford Paper Company until her retirement and afterwards worked for BJ’S in Auburn.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius — St John Church. She was a member of and past president of Napoleon Ouellette Post No. 24, American Legion Ladies Aux., LeParesseux Snowshoe Club, Robert Shand Post No. 1641 Ladies Aux., and St. Timothy Circle No. 504, Daughters of Isabella, Rumford Falls Aerie No. 1248, FOE.

She was married in Rumford on April 28, 1951, to the late Eugene A. Brown, who died in 1971.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Brown of Rumford, a son, Nicholas Brown and his wife, Sue, of Mexico; two brothers, Anthony Lavorgna and his wife, Gloria, of Mexico; Nicholas Lavorgna and his wife, Pauline, of Peru; a stepgranddaughter, Niki Keogh and her husband, Patrick, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and James Lavorgna; and a sister, Elizabeth LaRocca.

She will be remembered for her Christmas Eve Dinners, Lasagna and Italian cookies.
