LEWISTON — Roy Leblanc, a world champion Elvis impersonator, will bring his gospel tribute performance to the Franco-American Heritage Center on Sunday, Nov. 28.
No stranger to the Twin Cities, Leblanc, who has performed for more than 15 years, has sold out shows at the Ramada Inn.
Leblanc has described his show as “a respectful tribute to Elvis — not a recreation of a single concert.”
Elvis felt passionate about gospel and Christian music, something he himself experiences, Leblanc said, noting he especially enjoys singing “Peace in the Valley,” “If I Can Dream,” “It is No Secret What God Can Do,” and his personal favorite, “How Great Thou Art.”
What better place to have this kind of show than at the Franco-American Heritage Center, said Jeff St. Amand, owner of L/A Music Productions, Leblanc’s production company for the past three years and seven performances in New England.
Leblanc will deliver a heartwarming performance for the holiday season, St. Amand said, adding that with his warm and velvety smooth vocals, Leblanc sounds very much like the King.
In 1999, Leblanc won the world’s largest Elvis contest held yearly in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. Since then, according to his website, royleblanc.ca., he has performed at fairs, festivals, theaters, dance halls and casinos across the world. Other accomplishments include top honors again in Collingwood in 2001, headlining in Memphis during Elvis week, performing with some members of Elvis’ entourage and being named “The World’s Finest Elvis Impersonator” at the 2003 Elvis Extravaganza in Las Vegas.
The three-hour performance will begin at 2 p.m., with doors opening at 1 o’clock. Tickets for reserved seating are $21. For tickets, call L/A Music Productions at 783-0058.
