Lynelle and John

Schumacher

SOUTHPORT — The wedding of Lynelle Dora Durrell and John Henry Schumacher was held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 4 at Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport. Gil Durrell, notary public, and Richard Schumacher, fathers of the couple, officiated at the ceremony.

Mrs. Schumacher is the daughter of Gil and Connie Durrell of Farmington. Mr. Schumacher is the son of the late Barbara Schumacher and Richard and Sally Schumacher of Cupertino, Calif.

The bride wore an angular beaded one piece strapless caught-up gown with corset closure, an angular beaded embellishment with sparkling Swarovski crystals along the pleated bust line and asymmetrically ruched bodice. The delustered satin gown created cascading tiers that fell over the skirt and finished with a bubble hem. Her Swarovski jewelry was custom designed and she carried a bouquet of deep orange and red Calla lilies.

Amanda Paradis-Roberts, best friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Durrell, sister-in-law of the bride, Becky LaBrie, cousin of the bride, Beth LaBrie, cousin of the bride, and Aimee Dubois, cousin of the bride. Chloe Roberts, daughter of the matron of honor, was flower girl.

A reception followed at the Newagen Seaside Inn, after which the couple traveled to Burgundy, France. They are residing in Zurich, Switzerland.

The bride is a graduate of Mt. Blue High School and received a teaching degree from the University of Maine at Farmington. From there she moved to the coast of Maine to teach four years at South Bristol Elementary School. She then decided to teach internationally and during the past five years has lived in Caracas, Venezuela, and Trieste, Italy, teaching middle school math in both places. While living in Trieste, she traveled to a Lenny Kravitz concert in Zurich, Switzerland, where she met her husband.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, Calif., and in 1995 completed his bachelor’s degree in Asian studies, with a minor in politics at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. After living abroad in Japan, he returned to the USA to work for a technology company in Silicon Valley, until he volunteered at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999, which sparked his interest in professional soccer administration. He worked for three seasons in major league soccer before moving to Switzerland in 2002 to join FIFA, the world’s governing body of international soccer tournaments.
