FALMOUTH — Martha (Libby) Moore, R.N., born May 8, 1918 in Portland, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16. Her parents were Almon G. and Lena F. Libby. Mrs. Moore was a 1936 graduate of Deering High School, a 1940 graduate of Maine General Hospital School of Nursing, and did post graduate studies in public health nursing at Simmons College.
She married William F. Moore in 1944 in the old Woodfords Congregational Church.
After her schooling she worked for the District Nursing Association in Portland and during World War II was employed by hospitals in Kansas and Texas when she traveled with her husband who was in the Air Force. After the war she did private duty for a time until she became a homemaker to raise her three children. Later on she worked at the Osteopathic Hospital until she retired in 1980.
Mrs. Moore enjoyed cooking, the making of jellies and jams, sewing, gardening and for a long time sang in the choir of the Falmouth Congregational Church. She was a conscientious volunteer for her church, PROP and other agencies.
Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, who passed away in 2008.
Mrs. Moore is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Percy (Priscilla) King of Searsport, and Mrs. Neil (Susan) Sorensen of Peru; son, Jonathan, of Falmouth; 11 grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.
