MACHIAS, Maine (AP) — Two Maine companies will formally mark a Three Ring Binder broadband expansion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Machias.

Maine Fiber Company and Axiom Technologies are inviting the public to Monday’s event at the University of Maine at Machias. The ribbon cutting marks the Three Ring binder’s first expansion into Washington County.

Maine Fiber is overseeing construction, maintenance and leasing of a 1,100-mile, high capacity fiber-optic network in Maine. The network, also known as the Three Ring Binder, will also bring 1-gigabit connections to University of Maine campuses and other institutions and Internet service providers that need bandwidth.
