AUGUSTA — Bertrand Eugene Bazinet, 86, formerly of Lewiston passed away on Sunday, Nov. 21, at MaineGeneral Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1924, in Lewiston, the second son of the late Arthur and Angelina (Labrecque) Bazinet.

He attended Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High school. He entered the Army and served in Europe during World War II, and was wounded in the first days of the Battle of the Bulge.

Upon his returned to Lewiston, he went to work in retail shoe sales. He retired as the manager of Lamey-Wellahan Shoe on Water Street in Augusta after working for 37 years. He had served as president of the Downtown Merchants Association. He had also been a member of the Club Calumet.

He loved spending time at his log cabin in Boothbay Harbor. For many years, he enjoyed deep-sea fishing with his family on his boat the “My Toy.” He was also known for his wood working skills and many family and friends were the recipients of his wood working projects.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Muriel (Provost) of Augusta; two children, his daughter, Suzanne Bazinet of Augusta, and his son, Ronald Bazinet of North Attleboro, Mass.; two granddaughters, Danielle Bazinet Austin and her husband, Dennis, of Taunton, Mass., and Kristin Bazinet Lauriano and her husband, Javier, of Methuen, Mass.; as well as one precious great-grandson, Bradyn Austin of Taunton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bazinet was predeceased by his two brothers, Roland and Paul Bazinet; and his two sisters, Georgette Fournier and Florence Sutton.
