Thanksgiving meal
DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, at the “church on the hill.” The dinner is available to area residents, who may have no family to celebrate with or who may find themselves in a distressed financial situation.
Takeouts are available by calling, in advance, 562-4582, and leaving a message.
Red Hatters
RUMFORD — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine met in November at Brian’s Bistro with 32 members and two guests in attendance. The co-queen read a turkey poem and one November birthday was celebrated.
The next meeting will be a Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 49 Franklin St (formally the Methodist Church). The price is $21 and must be paid by Dec. 3.
Raffle fundraiser
MEXICO — The Mexico Police Explorers will hold a fundraising raffle through Dec. 15 when the winning name will be drawn. Chances for a $250 gift card from Walmart are $1 each or six for $5.
Tickets may be purchased at Roland’s Automotive in Mexico, from the Mexico Police Department by calling 364-5686 or from any member of the Explorers.
Lodge meeting
RUMFORD — The Gorizia Lodge 467, Sons of Italy will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the hall in Smithcrossing. All members are encouraged to attend.
Lodge dance
RUMFORD — Rumford Elks Lodge 862 will host a dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, to benefit the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Music will be provided by the band Stereo Type.
Admission is $5. There will be refreshments, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle.
Breakfast buffet
BETHEL — The Rotary Club of Bethel will offer an all-you-can-eat buffet from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at Ordway Dining Hall, Gould Academy, Church Street.
Tickets are $7 in advance from club members or at the Inn of Rostay, River View Resort or Mt. Mann Jewelers. Tickets at the door will be $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 or younger. Proceeds benefit the club’s community projects and scholarships.
