WEST PARIS — Residents are invited to help the “Little Castle” glow with glimmering white lights in honor of a loved one during the Friends of the West Paris Public Library’s Let Your Light Shine fundraising event.

The library will be decked with sparkling white lights to honor and remember loved ones.

The suggested donation is $5 from adults and $1 from children under 12 for each person to be honored. The names of the individuals will be permanently inscribed in the library’s “Let Your Light Shine Memory Book.”

The first illumination of the lights will occur at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. Area residents and visitors alike are invited to attend. There will be refreshments and an activity for children. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase items needed for the new addition to the library.

Donations may be dropped off at the library, located at 226 Main St., or may be mailed to: Friends of the Library, West Paris Public Library, P.O. Box 307, West Paris, ME 04289.

Librarian Patty Makley said that each donation should include the name, address and phone number of the donor. In addition, they need the name of the person to be honored or remembered and whether they are being honored (living) or remembered (deceased). Also include their relationship to the donor.

The library is open from 1:30 to 6 p.m. on Monday and Friday; from 1:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call 674-2004.
