AUBURN — Maurice J. St. Pierre, 80, of Turner, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 24, at The Hospice House, with his family by his side following a short, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewiston April 3, 1930, a son of Romeo and Isabelle (Tardiff) St. Pierre, and was educated in local schools. He married Pauline Giselle (Pintal) Berube on Nov. 18, 1961.
He first worked in local shoe shops and later worked as a lineman in construction before being employed as a superintendant of maintenance at Clover Health Care in Auburn until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. He was an excellent carpenter who designed and built many exquisite pieces of furniture, which will be treasured always by his family. He also built his family home, where he lived for the past 41 years.

He will be remembered by his family and many others, with love, as a kind, big-hearted man who could fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He lived life to the fullest with love laughter, hard work and fun. He will be missed always.

He leaves his wife, Pauline St. Pierre of Turner; two daughters, Karen Berube and her partner, Denise Marcoux, of Auburn; and Nancy Morin of Lewiston; three granddaughters, Megan Pettengill of Auburn,  Darcy Pettengill and her “hubby,” Bryan Letourneau, of Mechanic Falls, and Audrey Morin of Rumford; two grandsons, Steven Webster and his wife, Danielle, of Lewiston,  and Christopher Webster of Maryland; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Pettengill of Mechanic Falls and Asa Hodgkin of Auburn; two sisters, Jean Pacheco of Lewiston and  Dorothy Woolford of California;

He was predeceased by his grandson, Justin Pettengill; two brothers, Roger St. Pierre and Raymond St. Pierre and a sister, Lucille Poulin. You are invited to share your thoughts, condolences and fond memories with his family by visiting their guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
