MEXICO — The following incidents were handled by the Mexico Police Department.

Arrest

* David McKenna, 49, of Franklin Street, Rumford, at 5:20 a.m. Nov. 19 on Swett Avenue on a charge of operating under the influence. He was released from the Rumford Police Department on an unknown amount of unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Rumford District Court on March 8, 2011.

Accident

* Catherine L. Leonard, 51, of Peru, slid into a guardrail on black ice at 9:42 a.m. Nov. 22, as she was driving on the Peru/Mexico Bridge. Her 2008 Dodge pickup truck sustained $5,000 damage.

Vandalism

* The Meroby Elementary School principal reported at 9:11 a.m. Nov. 23 that someone had driven a vehicle onto the playground the night of Nov. 21 and damaged the field. The vehicle also ran into the soccer goals, but no damage resulted.

* A report was made at 3:33 a.m. Nov. 21 that someone struck and destroyed a stop sign and post at Osgood and Mexico avenues. The sign was valued at $250 and was replaced the next day.

* A Whitman Street resident reported at 1:25 a.m., Nov. 21, that loud noises were coming from the neighborhood. Police discovered that someone had moved a trampoline from a Howard Street home and placed it in the intersection of Howard and Cross streets, then exploded a chemical bomb.

Burglary and theft

* A Main Street resident reported at 8:46 a.m. Nov. 19 that someone had forcibly entered a Main Street home by damaging the doors or windows of the entrances. Once inside, about $750 damage was done and items valued at about $500 were stolen.
