BRUNSWICK — Hector Carrier, age 87, of Harpswell, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born on the family farm in Auburn on May 7, 1923, a son of George and Fedora Goulet Carrier. He attended Auburn schools and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in France and Germany. He married Delores Gagne in 1946.

He owned and operated his own lumbering business and later went into building homes in the Auburn area. In 1959, they moved to Harpswell, where he continued as a general contractor. His son, Richard, joined the family business in 1969. Hector retired when he was 80 years old.

He and his wife enjoyed going to Saturday night Legion dances. He also liked spending time hunting, tending his lobster traps, being with family and friends, and going to his camp in Minot to tend his garden. He was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Surviving are his wife of Harpswell; his son, Richard Carrier, and his wife, Dorothy, of Harpswell; and one grandson, Chris Carrier, of Topsham.
