HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society will hear Director Charles Tobie describe his research and writing on the history of Hebron’s oldest roads at its next meeting.

The program will be held after a short business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Hebron Town Office.

Tobie will describe in detail the first road of consequence in town, a county road from New Gloucester to Paris established as a public way by the Court of General Sessions for Cumberland County in 1793. His research found a section from Minot Corner into Hebron identical to roads in use today.

With maps, he will point out families that lived along the route through Minot when the road was established. Tobie has put his research, findings and maps into a pamphlet entitled “A Way Through the Wilderness” that will be available to interested parties. The public is invited.
