I thank the Sun Journal for the article relating the details of the overcharges to MaineCare made by Rep. Robert Nutting (Nov. 23). Now, can someone tell me why he was not charged with fraud or larceny?

Instead, he is to be the speaker of the House that makes the laws and rules that residents of Maine must live by.

I just cannot understand any of this. An earlier article stated that Nutting had many friends and colleagues in the House who stood by and supported him, even after his “mistake” was made public.

How can those overcharges in any way be construed as a “mistake”? Apparently, a lot of other pharmacies are making a similar “mistake” but are not being charged. Of course, Nutting went even further and added a bunch of other markups to the supplies he sold.

Why isn’t the new governor, who says he only cares about the people, speaking out on this issue?

How has Nutting served the people of Maine?
