LEWISTON — Stephen Michael Hamner, 58, of Winthrop, passed away early Saturday, Nov. 27, at Central Maine Medical Center following a heart attack.
Steph was born on July 10, 1952, in Rumford, the son of William and Louisa (Tucker) Hamner.
He attended Mexico High School and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam, and studied at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Steph was employed as a paper maker, electrician and tractor-trailer driver, owning NiMaSt Trucking. He also worked in retail sales.
Steph loved the outdoors and shared his extensive knowledge of hunting, fishing and archery with his children and other family members and friends. He was a professional archer for several years.
Steph is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Julie; daughter, Carolyn Perry and her husband, John, of Rumford and children, Joey and fiance, Amy, Elizabeth and Ian; daughter, Stephanie Michaud and her husband, Jerry, of Mount Vernon and children Ryder and Sophia; daughter, Nicole St. Onge and her husband, Adam, of Windsor and children Parker and Anderson; son, Harrison Matthew Hamner and his girlfriend, Dawn Foss, of Lewiston; daughter, Stacey Hamner and her fiance, Jason Hodsdon, of Monmouth and children Natalie and Taylor; his brothers, Richard Hamner and Gerard Hamner of Rumford, Eugene Hamner of San Diego, Calif., Charlie Hamner of Winthrop, Tom Casey of Sedalia, Mo., and Joe Casey and Charlie Casey of Mexico; sisters, Nancy Pettegrow of Lewiston, Beatrice Richard and Louisa Ryan of Mexico and Jena Casey of Sedalia, Mo.; he was also survived by his in-laws, Harrison and Constance Bates of Winthrop; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Steph was predeceased by his parents; his adoptive parents, Charles and Dot Casey; his former wife, Theresa Hamner; and nephews, Steven Hamner and Patrick Hamner.
