LINCOLN, R.I. — Gloria J. O’Connell, 81, of South Harpswell, died Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Greenville Rehabilitation, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1929, in Lewiston, the daughter of Belanie and Leda (Paradis) Saucier and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1947.

On May 20, 1949, she married Paul F. O’Connell at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. They were able to travel the world with the Air Force. Paul and Gloria retired back to Lewiston and South Harpswell. Together they owned and operated Chuck’s Superette in Lisbon Falls for 10 years. Gloria also worked at Lewiston Regional Vocational High School as a secretary for the guidance office for seven years.

She is survived by her son, Paul F. O’Connell Jr. of Austin, Texas; daughter, Karen Isiko of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Shawn O’Connell of Cumberland, R.I.; she was a wonderful grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul in 2006; and brother, Al Saucier in 1999.

We will miss her sense of humor and her warm, loving spirit.
