BRIDGTON — Loon Echo Land Trust has announced that applications for its 2011 Environmental Educational Grant awards are available.

Each year, LELT awards small grants to schools and libraries in Bridgton, Casco, Denmark, Harrison, Naples, Sebago and Raymond for environmental educational purposes.

Applications can be downloaded at www.lelt.org. Schools and libraries may submit multiple program applications, but only one grant award will be considered per school or library. The deadline for submission is Jan. 15, 2011.

Past award recipients include Harrison Elementary’s “Ecology/Interdependence in Nature” program; Raymond Village Library’s program “Turtles of Maine – a look at endangered turtles”; and Songo Locks Elementary’s program “Bald Pate Soil Plot Study.”

Funds for the educational grants are made available through LELT’s Educational Endowment. The endowment was developed as a memorial to two teachers, Helen Allen and Polly Bartlett.

Loon Echo Land Trust is a nonprofit organization that protects land in the northern Sebago Lake region of Maine.
