FARMINGTON — Jennifer Wadsworth of North Turner is SugarWood Gallery’s Artist of the Month for December. An open house reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
Wadsworth has been exhibiting her work in juried shows statewide for the past 10 years. She had her first of many solo shows in 2003. She works with oils on different surfaces, which include canvas, tissue paper, fabric, Plexiglas, wood and stone.
Wadsworth is a fan of life drawing and has participated in the drawing group held at Bates College. She is fascinated with the human figure and much of her work includes images of women. Her work is included in private, academic and corporate collections in North America.
Wadsworth said, “I paint to paint and engage in creating images that do not exist anywhere but in my mind and on my chosen surface. The images are the result of my connection to the energy and rhythm of the past, present and future. My ultimate goal, to share the experience of my creative journey, is achieved when friends and strangers engage in a visual conversation with my work.”
She is currently the volunteer curator and coordinator for the art exhibits at Western Maine Community Action in East Wilton. She is the former director of the Turner Center for the Arts.
SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway.
