The Tin Mountain Round Up is an annual charitable canned food drive that has become a standard on many Maine ski area event calendars. Several area resorts kick off the season with the Round Up on their opening weekend, while others feature the event during the ski season. In the past, these Round Ups have collected an estimated 5,000 cans of food. A target goal has been set at 10,000 cans for the 2010-11 Maine ski season. Black Mountain of Maine will host its annual Tin Mountain Round Up on December 24. Individuals bringing in three cans of food can ski or snowboard for just $15 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. as the mountain will be closing early for the holiday. All canned food from this event will be donated to local food pantries.
