PERU — Erin Thompson, formerly of Peru, has  graduated from the Broward County Police Academy class.

Thompson is a 2002 graduate of Mountain Valley High School and received a bachelor of science degree in police studies in 2006 from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.

Thompson finished first in her class in firearms proficiency with a 99.9 percent overall. She has accepted a position as a police officer with the city of Miramar in Broward County, Florida.

She is the daughter of Mark and Gail Thompson of Peru and Debbie and Norm Pelletier of Naples, Fla.
